Friday Book Hour

BookBeginnings is a weekly meme, hosted by Rose City Reader. To participate, share the opening lines and your thoughts about a book you're reading, or about to.

Beginning:
The PA system crackled. "Would all those involved in the Lady Virginia Fenwick versus Mrs Emma Clifton..."

"The jury must have reached a decision," Trelford said, already on the move.
My thoughts:

If you've read any of the books that feature n the series (five in all) before this, you will already be aware that Emma Clifton and Lady Virginia Fenwick are never on friendly terms. Book Five (Mightier than the sword) ended on a ginormous cliffhanger in the trial involving these two women. If you're anything like me, you are firmly on Emma's said, but you just cannot see a way for truth and justice to prevail. This is the sixth in The Clifton Chronicles, but Jeffrey Archer - Cometh the Hour.

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice every Friday.

How it works is you...Grab a book, any book. Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that's ok.) Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)

Here's my P56

"Are you out of your tiny mind?"

"Quite possibly," admitted Giles.
The Labour agent for Bristol Docklands covered his face with his hands. "It was a one-night stand, Giles. Or have you forgotten?" "That's the problem. I haven't forgotten, and there's only one was to find out if it was more than that for her."

Giles is Emma's brother, and in these two excerpts , you haven't even met Harry Clifton, who is married to Emma and therefore Giles' brother-in-law. Giles has decided he wants to do the right thing about the "one night stand", even though she is on the other side of the German wall.

Here's the cover:

Love or hate Jeffrey Archer - you have to admit that these are page turners of note. The original series was meant to be five books, here we are on six, and there will definitely be a seventh.

Tell me what you're reading this weekend, and I'll pay you a friendly visit. Happy reading everyone.

I would pick this up just because of the author. I have read some of his work and enjoyed it.

I've read the first 3 books in this series and enjoyed them. (I actually read the first book in one sitting, something I rarely do.) I must get back to this series.

I haven't begun this series but it sounds nicely twisty. This week I am featuring Uprooted by Naomi Novik which I thought was amazing. Happy reading!

I haven't read anything by this author, and I don't think this one would be for me. But I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for sharing. :-)

I've enjoyed other books by this author so I'd probably like this one too. That part about, out of your tiny mind, kind of cracked me up:)

"Are you out of your tiny mind?" - I love the beginning of the quote. It's just right for me now
