Ten of the Best #44

It's the weekend. I don't know what you are going to be up to, but I'm up for having some fun, laughing a lot and enjoying friends and family.

Let's hope we can get you in the mood. Grab your tea, coffee or champagne, settle in to your comfy spot, and let's check out what made the headlines of our social media. Thanks for all your input, friends - you know who you are.

If you're new here, click on the pictures for the links to the articles/clips, and use the back button on your browser to come back for more - if you want more, that is.

True story - we were walking to a new breakfast spot last weekend, when we noticed some trendy ladies looking lost. My husband guessed what they were after..."Looking for Starbucks?" he prompted. Sure enough, they were! What is it with the constant queues and all the hype? I'm not the only one wondering. Welcome to SA, Starbucks.

This next post has become slightly superseded. But it does describe why Trump can actually win. Believe it.

Meanwhile, back at home...Once upon a time there was a weeping waitress. Two Oxford University  students refused to tip her. They left a stupid note instead, telling her to give back the land. She cried. Then people started a fundraising campaign for her on social media. Whatever next? Will she be president? Rebecca Davis says what we think of this.

Getting tired of political correctness? So is John Cleese. Quite entertaining, this clip.

Even funnier, and cleverly done, is the clip posted by PRINCE WILLIAM. (How do you tell if something on social media is true? It's uppercase, with some spelling errors and typos, to boot.) I'm sure he didn't mind, though. Cute.

The 15 pictures showcased on this site from the National Geographic Photographer of the Year 2016 competition are exceptionally beautiful.

How fairy tales, in all their gruesome glory, have influenced writing today. In celebration of Mother Goose Day - May the 1st. Because no one lives happily ever after.

You knew this was coming. There's a new carpool karaoke. James Corden - with Gwen Stefani. And George Clooney. Of course. Warning - it's quite long, and has some adult content. Please watch to the end - it starts slow, but gets much better.

Another useful clip, that you need to watch a few times, so that you can remember. All the uses for a foldback clip. Who woulda thunk? It's my pleasure.

We end with the cutest kid memes. Highly amusing, especially if you have young kids.  Scroll through them all, they're hilarious.

Well, that's it. Hope you had fun too. Happy weekend to you all, especially the Moms who celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday - if you don't get spoilt enough, spoil yourself.

Here's the link to last week.

And some more tens.
