It wasn't easy to find something good from P56 - you know when it just doesn't do the book justice. Anyway, this wasn't bad - Derwent is the Detective Inspector and Maeve Kerrigan the Detective Sergeant he pushed past - both investigating this crime. Just a lot of blood, not body, but Chloe's missing mother. I'm gripped.
What are you reading this weekend?

Good opener. I love it when the author is clever and presents a twist on words or phases. This book does a good job with that.
Ugh, fifty-six hours of rain just sounds tedious.
Love this! Looking it up now :)
I'm reading An Ember in the Ashes - Sabaa Tahir - Here's the link: http://bit.ly/2l4vhG2
Happy Friday!
Sounds fantastic to me. :-)

Great hook for the beginning and intriguing quite too. I think I'd like this one.
My Friday 56 from Cinema Of Shadows
That beginning definitely hooked me! I know what you mean about a 56 not really doing a book justice but I liked the conversation between the characters. I'm adding this book to my TBR.
I am with Katherine, hooked is the word I would use to describe how I felt reading those snippets! Happy weekend!
I am intrigued, and I have seen this one around, getting great reviews. Count me in!
Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
I'm definitely curious about this one after reading the snippets. And 56 days of rain...ugh!
I won a Goodreads Giveaway Competition for this book, so I have a physical paperback edition, sat right here on the desk in front of me.
When I am going to get around to featuring and reading it though, is quite another matter, especially as we are now up to book #7 in this particular Jane Casey series and I haven't read any of the earlier ones!
I think I like the second cover image the best, but both excerpts captured my attention equally.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the reast of the book :)

Love the opening line.
How perfectly eerie for this time of year. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
That opening is creepy. But, boy, do I wish it would rain here . . . I really want to give this series a try. I have the first book in my TBR pile. One of these days! I am glad you are enjoying it! I hope you have a great week!
Love the sound of that beginning! :)
Thanks for sharing!
