Ten of the Best #75

Welcome to my weekend. Which always starts with a roundup of what happened on our Facebook, Twitter and other social media feeds. You know, all the stuff we didn't read properly during the week, because we were back at work. Working hard, because it’s the new year, and all that. Well, week’s over, you survived a Friday the 13th, which came way too early for us to actually cope, never mind notice, and you can officially put your phone down, your feet up, sip that cappuccino and inhale the scent of lazy Saturdayness. We’ve waited long enough.

Barack said goodbye this week, and all our 2016 fears and tears are feeling all too real. I loved the excerpts,

"I am asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about change - but in yours.”

And here’s his great tribute to Michelle.

Michele also bowed out gracefully.

Trevor Noah summed it up,, similarly to the picture above, and explained the golden shower, sort of.

But the writing award goes to Rachel Held Evans. She wrote this, the blog post that filled my soul with rays of sunshine and made me feel better about 2016.

How are these clever ideas? Some of them really work for me.

The best musical moment this week was Neil Patrick Harris and the Philharmonics and James Corden in a Broadway riff off.

Of course, there were also the Golden globes, famous for Meryl’s speech,

but I liked Jimmy Fallon’s opening best.

And the best of the “Best Books of 2016” posts was from The Washington Post.

Peter Kay quotes the funniest misheard lyrics. He’s obviously heard my husband singing in the shower, or maybe the car?

These photos - showing how different generations don't look that different when they share genes.

It’s been a slow, but good start to the year. Enjoy your weekend, and see you next week.
