Try not to breathe by Holly Seddon

Amy Stevenson became a local celebrity for all the wrong reasons about 15 years ago. She is now lying in a semi vegetative state after being attacked and left for dead when she was a teenager. Alex, a local journalist, discovers Amy lying in the hospital, and remembers the story. She was at Amy's school when it happened.

Something about Amy's story starts Alex, whose alcoholism has cost her a marriage, friendships and almost her career, on a journey to uncover the truth around what really happened. We also meet Jake, Amy's former boyfriend, and these three voices narrate their points of view.

This is a debut novel from Holly Seddon, but you wouldn't think so to read it. I listened to the Audible version and found the narration excellent. A fast moving, character-driven novel that you won't be able to put down. This book draws you in, tumbles you around and will leave you deeply satisfied at the intense and thrilling climax.

A thoroughly enjoyable 4 star read.

You may also enjoy The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins or Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty.
